You Belong To Me
Written by Chilton Price (1913–2010) and originally called “Hurry Home To Me” as a plea to a sweetheart serving overseas in World War II. Pee Wee King and Redd Stewart were country artists and song pluggers who changed the title to “You Belong to Me”. It was released in 1952 and became a huge hit for Jo Stafford in the USA and the UK. She was the first woman singer to top the UK charts. Patsy Cline released a version in 1962 and is probably the version you can hear in your head.
